Steven Kaftal, a native of Southern California, grew up in the Los Angeles suburb of Burbank. A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, he taught school in the Los Angeles area before moving to San Diego to attend Thomas Jefferson School of Law. Upon graduation he spent several years working at a respected downtown law firm before opening his own firm in 2007.
Steven Kaftal is qualified to practice law in all California courts as well as the United States District Court for the Southern and Central Districts of California. Steven is a member of the Greater San Diego Business Association and also volunteers his time with the San Diego Volunteer Lawyers Program, helping to provide free legal services to HIV-positive persons. Mr. Kaftal has been awarded the Wiley W. Manuel Certificate by the California State Bar for the last three years. This award is given to attorneys who complete more than fifty Pro Bono hours per year.
Steven's hobbies include bicycling, travel, music and he speaks French and Italian. He is an accomplished guitarist, having played at numerous venues in the San Diego and Los Angeles areas and has recorded an album of original music.
